Is the Chiropractic and Massage Therapy profession too saturated? If you have been following my blogs and reading the articles posted on my site, you will know that we are working on a few projects that are going to shake the chiropractic, massage, and alternative health care professions forever. In the past few weeks I have been to multiple Registered Massage Therapy schools here in Ontario to learn more about what students are looking for on the business end of our profession.
At one school in particular, I had a great debate with a young girl who is in her last semester. She told me that after writing her board exams, she is heading out west to treat because the market in Southern Ontario is too saturated. Are we really that saturated that someone needs to move 3000+ km (or 1900+ miles for our American readers) to find patients?
Is our industry going to dry up? NO! If there is a market, even if it seems saturated with too many practitioners, it is the perfect spot to set up shop!
A story about DT&R, My stomping ground: When I first set up shop, I was the only practitioner in the area, business was ... more.
less.
good. When our team grew we decided to open a new office. We were looking at locations and found a beautiful office space, cheap rent, and the possibility to grow.

On our same street, there are 20 Chiropractic offices, with multiple massage therapists, hell, in my mall there is a chiropractor down the hall, and a massage school on the other side of the hall with a student clinic that offers Massage Therapy and Sports Therapy for less than half the price we are! (Not to brag, but our city also has the highest per capital of Tim Horton 9s !!) When I went to get a loan to open our facility no one would lend, because of our Market. The only person that would help out was my father, because he believed in our passion, direction, and plan.

Today, we have brought in 5x what we did in our original year, expanded 7 times, and still are the leaders in a niche in a "saturated market". My personal guidelines: - Be diverse & create conversation - Be active in the community - Consistently market - Create a niche, and be the best at it! - Follow to Blog http://bogarperformance.com/component/k2/item/20-7-rules-to-be-a-succesful-health-care- practitioner I wrote a blog last week about the 7 Rules to become a successful massage therapist.

I followed those rules when I first opened my clinic and continue to do so this very day! I also continue to learn more information to better treat my clients, I follow a solid marketing plan and stand out in the sea of Registered Massage Therapist and Alternative health care practitioners. According to Matt & Alen of Mass Money Makers, a system we diligently use in all our online programs and products- you can get it here: http://www.massmoneymakers.com/mmm/1/gpreh.html ), state: when developing their product in a market where money is being spent, is where you should set up.

Clients are already spending money so create a plan where they spend it with you. There is a reason a market hasn't been developed, all the markets are already tapped, you just need that find a niche and be diverse in the tapped market. In other words, head in there full steam, be diverse, and make sure people know your name!

As a health care professional this takes work, but it is worth your time. On the bottom of this blog, I would love to see your comments, questions, and arguments. Let 9s sum it up: - Find a market - Create a niche in the market - Be diverse, make sure everyone knows your name - Become reliable - Always learn and improve!

For those who found this information useful and looking to move forward in their practice, we are launching a new program and product soon that will help take your health business to the next level.
