The neighborhood is a richly diverse one with an ethnic makeup of Asian, Hispanic, American Indian, African American, and Caucasian residents. The library serves many patrons including; seniors, school-aged children, and adults continuing their education.

Hayden Heights offers a beautiful auditorium with a seating capacity of 85 and a small meeting room with a capacity of 8 310 individuals.<br><br> Advance booking of the space is required. In addition, Hayden Heights provides seven study carrels, four study tables and nine lounge chairs, two word processors, eight Internet stations (one hour per day use with a valid library card), and a coin operated black/white and color copy machine. Hayden Heights Branch was opened in 1955, across the street from the present location, which was opened in 1979.<br><br> The current location holds approximately 67,000 catalogued items in 12,295 square feet of space, with all operations on one level. The collection features Black Authors and Asian Authors sections along with an ever popular automotive collection. Some of the highlights of the automotive collection are the Hollander Interchange Manuals (1977 to present), National Service Data Manuals (1938 31977), Mitchell Manuals (1940 to present), Chilton Manuals (1940 to present) and individual Haynes and Chilton manuals for domestic and import vehicles which circulate.<br><br> To assist community residents with job searches, the library offers the Star Tribune Jobs Kiosk work station which features jobs by categories within the Twin City area. Hayden Heights collaborates with the schools and recreation centers located within the library 9s service area. Library staff partner with teachers, child care providers, recreation center workers, and others in order to connect the library with the community.<br><br> Hayden Heights offers storytimes, adult programs, and monthly Internet classes for seniors.
