She then handed out parking lot safety tip flyers and discussed the need to be aware of other trucks drivers are parked near for purposes of unknown damage to NPE tractors and trailers. Autumn Chisholm , Safety Assistant, talked next about the procedures drivers should follow to report damage to trailers. trailer, or damage done at the rail yard.<br><br> She reminded drivers of current company policy of filling out a trailer damage report form. The handout was given to Dawn Eden, Trainer, to add to the Company Handbook and include in orientation for new drivers. Randy Rasmussen , Senior Recruiter, discussed the new wash rack policy, now that the former on-site wash rack is no longer in business.<br><br> There are currently 4 Company approved locations to have trucks and trailers washed on account twice per month. There is also one location where drivers can pay cash and be reimbursed for the wash once per month. There are 2 sites in Oregon, 2 in Washington, and 1 in California.<br><br> Drivers were given a list of the locations with the facility hours and the steps they must take in order to get the wash charged on account. Carl Flockerzie , representing Operations, fielded questions and comments from drivers during the Bull Session : 1. Some of the safety related issues that came up were concerns about what to do if one of our trucks is presumably broken down along the side of the road.<br><br> Mark Lawson, Owner/Operator, was concerned that other drivers were not showing enough concern for other NPE drivers along the road. Lisa discussed the safety aspects and what drivers should do to be of help. 2.<br><br> The issue also came up of the need to have orange safety vests on when assisting Les Schwab with a tire while sitting on the side of the road. Drivers requested orange vests be provided to each driver. 3.<br><br> Carl discussed the need to keep idol time to a minimum, or to communicate with dispatch when in particularly hot or cold conditions to get permission for a motel. 4. Drivers were pleased with the new fleet dispatch system.<br><br> Matt Gilmore, dispatcher, was singled out as having improved a lot under the new dispatch system. 5. There was some concern about the condition of the Woodland yard.<br><br> Apparently the dust is getting bad, and it needs grading again. 6. Need for insurance cards and accident kits with safety camera.<br><br> Drivers were also given the most recent orange dispatch/safety phone list. Awarded Prizes : Dave Garretson was given a gift card for attending his first safety NPE safety meeting. Tim Southall won the prize for successfully completing the crossword puzzle.<br><br> Possible topics for next meeting : Logbook, (Hours of Service) rules, and information from the shop about care of tractor/trailer tires during hot weather.
