The learner should understand the criteria against which s/he will be assessed. The tutor and learner should determine the level of proficiency that they both feel is adequate prior to the demonstration being performed 2. Materials Needed/Allowed : dictionary to determine the meaning of unknown words EVALUATION: The tutor may use the attached rubric to mark the completed exercises.<br><br> The tutor and learner should discuss the rubric before the learner attempts the demonstration. Together, they should determine the appropriate level of proficiency. Each column in a rubric has a numeric value of 1, 2, 3 or 4 assigned to it.<br><br> If you choose to evaluate the demonstration the using first Performance Choice, check off the box that best describes the learner 9s performance. If the box is in the first column it is worth one mark, if it is in the second column it is worth two, etc. Once you have completed the rubric with the learner you can add up the total number of marks to determine the score.<br><br> You can also determine success based on the learner scoring in a particular column or higher. This is the second "Performance Choice." You also have the option to assess based on your own criteria. If you do this, please explain the criteria under the third "Performance Choice".<br><br> The tutor and learner should always discuss the results and next steps once the demonstration has been completed and evaluated.
