This movie is about relationships~ whether between people and dogs, lovers, brothers, family members, economic or political. A brutal car crash intertwines the stories of three sets of people and their dogs, all trying to survive their own solitude. OC One of the most popular Mexican films ever made, the cult sensation Aventurera is a famous example of a cabareteras, a curious film noir and musical hybrid wildly popular in Mexico in the '40s and '50s. Starring the immortal Ninon Sevilla, who Variety called "a cross between Rita Hayworth and Carmen Miranda," the film follows the melodramatic rise and fall of a popular nightclub star with a dark past. SAN Left leaning, though somewhat apolitical, cabaret artists Carmela and Paulino agree to entertain the Republican troops at the Argon front during the Spanish Civil War. With them is Gustavete, an adolescent boy they rescued from a bombing attack earlier in the war. They are captured on their way to Valencia by the Fascists. When Gustavete, who now forms part of their act, mistakenly tells the Nationalists that they were coming from a town controlled by the Communists, they are imprisoned. Certain to be shot, they are given a chance to live when a former theater director, now a Lieutenant with the Italian troops fighting along with the Germans in support of Franco, asks them to put on a show glorifying Mussolini and Hitler. Now, he returns across the border to his home in Mexico and attempts to raise awareness of the struggle that the migrant workers in the United States must endure. This social tragedy of the working classes uses Filiberto as a symbol of many disenfranchised, exploited workers who face difficulties from employers every day.
