Setting up Outlook for Xplornet Mail powered by Google Apps July 20, 2009 Setting up Outlook for Xplornet Mail powered by Google Apps 2 Setting up Outlook for Xplornet Mail powered by Google Apps In this document you will find instructions about setting up Outlook for our new Xplornet Mail powered by Google Apps platform. Outlook 2002, 2003, and 2007 are supported.

This document provides instructions for Outlook 2007; the settings are the same for Outlook 2002 or 2003. 1.1. What to have ready Before you begin, ensure that you have the following items ready: Email username and password.

1.2. Setting up Outlook Use this procedure to set up your Outlook account. Steps 1) Open Outlook.

If this is your first time configuring an account using Outlook, it prompts you to set up a new account. Go to Step 4. 2) On the Tools menu, click Account Settings .

E-mail Account window appears (see Figure 2).<br><br> Figure 2 Add New E-mail Account window 4) Click the Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP option and click Next . The Auto Account Setup window appears (see Figure 3). The Choose E-mail Service window appears (see Figure 4). Figure 5 Internet E-mail Settings window July 20, 2009 Setting up Outlook for Xplornet Mail powered by Google Apps 6 8) In the Your Name box, type your name as you would like it to appear on emails that you send to people. 9) In the E-mail Address box, type your full email address (including @xplornet.ca).<br><br> 10) In the Account Type list, click POP3 . 11) In the Incoming mail server box, type pop.gmail.com . 12) In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box, type smtp.gmail.com .<br><br> 13) In the User Name box, type your email username (including @xplornet.ca). 14) In the Password box, type your password. 15) If you want, select the Remember password check box.<br><br> If you do so, you will not have to enter your password when you access your mail. 16) Do not use the Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) option. Leave this check box clear.<br><br> 17) Click the More Settings button, and click the Outgoing Server tab (see Figure 6). Figure 6 Outgoing Server tab July 20, 2009 Setting up Outlook for Xplornet Mail powered by Google Apps 7 18) Select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box. 19) Click the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option.<br><br> 20) Click the Advanced tab, and select the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) check box (see Figure 7). The Incoming server (POP3) port defaults to 995. Figure 7 Advanced tab 21) In the Outgoing server (SMTP) box, type 587 .<br><br> 22) In the Use the following type of encrypted connection list, click TLS . 23) Click OK . 24) Click the Test Account Settings button.<br><br> 25) After you receive the c Congratulations! A ll tests completed successfully d message , click Close . 26) Click Next , and then click Finish .<br><br> You can now send and retrieve email messages.
