dogs also have clothes, they look very lovely. But no matter how lovely they are, the owners must observe the laws. Now, I am going to introduce the laws of raising dogs in China.

In the big cities, it is illegal for dogs to be in the public places unless they are on a lead. In other words, in the public places, the dogs must wear the collars which are tied by ropes. That way, the owners can control their dogs and prevent them from attacking other people.

It is very dangerous to be bitten by the dogs, because it is easy to be infected by the virus. Therefore, if you want to raise a dog, you must bring your dog to the animal hospital to take the injections first. But it is not enough.

If you are bit- ten by the dogs you have to go to the hos- pital to take the injection, even though it is ex- pensive. Otherwise you may die. In addition, there are some laws about how much noise the dogs can make.

If the dogs make noise to dis- turb the neighbors, the owners would be fined. So you have to take some measures to make the dogs keep quiet. For example, you can train them.

In some residences, it is not al- lowed to raise any pets, including dogs. Espe- cially in the hotels, airports and stations, it is illegal to bring the pets. These are the laws of raising dogs in most big cities in China.

Additionally, there are some special laws in some special places. For example, in Hong Kong, people who own dogs must buy the li- censes for their dogs, and the dogs must wear the collars with the license numbers on it. That way, if the dogs get lost or left in the streets, the owners can be found.

If the owners cannot found after two weeks, the dogs will be killed. The license system has another advantage. If the owners mistreat their dogs in any way, they will have their licenses taken away so that they can not raise any pets again.

These are the spe- cial laws of raising dogs in some special places. Dogs also have rights, it is inhuman to mis- treat or kill the dogs, but it is not illegal in China, because there is no law for protecting the pets, even the dogs. Therefore, every year, countless dogs are left in the streets, or killed for selling.

It not only violates the dogs 9 rights, but also does bad to the society. Now, in some developed countries, there are laws not only for protecting pets 9 lives, but also their property. For example, in Hawaii and about 20 states in America, there are also laws for the pets to inherit their owners 9 money.

So setting laws to protect the dogs is essential for im- proving people 9s life and social civilization. Laws of Raising Dogs Written by Jason From China University of Bridgeport Summer2, 2007 Page 3 Have you ever heard of Harry Potter? I think most people know it.

A boy named Harry Potter has studied at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft. He always flights against the Lord Voldemort who killed his parents and wanted to kill him. The fifth Harry Potter movie was released last month.

So many fans went to the theater to see this movie. At the same time the last book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was released. Since the first novel was released, the book has been the best - seller of that year. Right now the novel has been translated into more than sixty four languages and has been successful worldwide.

So many people from many countries are fascinated in it. Second, five Harry Potter series novels have been made into movies by Warner Bros. In the films, Harry Potter 9s witchcraft world became real pictures.

Through the movie, more audiences liked this story. If you don 9t want to read a long novel, you should watch the film of Harry Potter. I am sure you will like it.

Why is the film wonderful? The use of digital technology in the film was successful. The entire movie 9s production cost was high.

Half of the money was used for special effects just with digital technology and perfect execu- tion. The movie made every audience enjoy seeing Harry Potter and his magical world. Third, in the story, Harry encountered many difficulties.

But he has always been brave and strong 4 just like a hero although he was a boy. And his friends gave him help and support. Friendship is important for everyone.

In the book, the author described many real - life problems; for example the pure - blood wizards discriminated against other students. The book taught children what is correct. A theme park of the movie will be built in Orlando, Florida, and will open in late 2009.

At that time, many fans can go to this theme park. Harry Potter will continue its popularity. I traveled there in May, 2007. Australia is the place where my life changed.

Australia has many beautiful cities, people there are very kind, the environment there is very clean, and it is a good place for traveling. There are many famous cities in Australia. Sydney is one of the world 9s biggest cities, and it has world famous buildings such as the Sydney Opera House.

It is also the financial city of Australia, like New York City is the fi- nancial city of the US. There is a town in Syd- ney which is called China Town; many Chi- nese people live in that place. The town has real Chinese restaurants, but it is expensive.

Most of us like it very much. Canberra, which is the capital of Australia, is near by Sydney. We visited the government, museum, and li- brary.

My aunt told us that famous actor 9s Jack Chen 9s father lives there. Also there is a cen- tral park in Canberra, and in the middle of the lake there is a big fountain. It is a nice city that has a lot of trees and flowers.

People who live there are very friendly. My young brother lives in Brisbane. We visited my brother 9s school, and the students in that school are very friendly.

They took us outside, and we had BBQ with them. There was a teacher who had been to China in 2001, in her mind there was a song called Meteor Garden. She wanted to learn it, and we taught her that song.

At the school party, we sang that song together. We lived in my aunt 9s house in Brisbane; they only had one son, so they liked children very much. My aunt is a good chef.

Every meal she changed different styles for us. My uncle is a good man, he took good care of us, washed clothes, cleaned the garden. On the weekdays, he took us to go fishing; it was so fun.

Their son taught us how to play golf, which we had never played be- fore. In that case, we communicated with na- tive people, it was a good way to improve our English. Snowboarding is a sport that evolved from skateboarding and surfing. It is often described as surfing or skateboarding on snow.

You can feel fast and cold wind. I like this sport very much, and now I will introduce snowboarding. I think you will be interested this sport.

Snowboarding Styles Snowboarding has 3 styles. You can choose your styles. In my opinion, if you want to learn or ride a snowboard, I suggest free ride because it is easy to ride.

Now I will introduce these types of snowboarding. First is Freestyle. Freestyle riding focuses on jumps, tricks, rail slides, half - pipes and switch riding.

It is very dangerous and extreme. Free- style equipment uses a soft boot and a rela- tively short, maneuverable board. It is very dangerous so you should wear protection such as helmet, thermal underwear, and gloves.

Second is Free ride. Free riding is the most general style of snowboarding and very popu- lar in my country. It is less dangerous than Freestyle but you should wear protection.

Free ride equipment uses a soft boot. Boards in this category are relatively longer and more direc- tional in their shape. It is easy to learn for chil- dren, students and women.

Third is Free carve/Race. This style needs a little professionalism and practice. It is very different from freestyle because it focuses on carving and racing.

It takes place on hard - pack or groomed runs and focuses on the ultimate carving turn. Little or no jumping takes place in this discipline. It is also called alpine snow- boarding.

Free carve equipment is comprised of a hard boot and plate binding system, with stiff, narrow and long boards. This list is what you need for snow board- ing: If you want to ride a snowboard you need and you should wear a protection. Snowboard- ing is a winter sport so you need warm clothes.

Snowboard Boots, Snowboard Bindings, Snowboarding Jacket, Snowboarding Pants, Thermal Underwear, Gloves, Helmet, Sun- screen, Sunglasses, Goggles and Hand/Foot Warmers. <Decks> What is Snowboarding University of Bridgeport Summer2, 2007 Page 7 <Binding> <Goggles> <Gloves> <Helmet> <Wrist protection> <Boots> Beginner 9s mental attitude! Ready for snowboarding!

cVery carefully! d from Steven. It is right. But you need enough time for practice.

Specially dress in comfortable, loose - fitting snow clothing. Don't forget gloves, goggles and a helmet. Especially for beginners, con- sider wearing a pair of wrist guards and pro- tection.

You already know that you can take ski lift! Snowboarding is more dangerous than ski- ing Snowboarding is more danger- ous than skiing and snowboard- ers also tend to be injured more often than skiers. Research shows that snowboarders are more than twice as likely as skiers to sustain serious fractures, get concussions and lose consciousness, dislocate their joints, and have their teeth knocked out.

Ski parts are easy to separate from your body but snowboard parts do not separate. It means if you have an accident or fall down, it is more dangerous because your legs are held on the snowboard. In my opinion, snowboarders should have on helmet and wear waist protec- tion, arms protection and goggles.

Last impor- tant thing is better to keep off drugs and alco- hol while snowboarding. What is Snowboarding University of Bridgeport Summer2, 2007 Page 8 - Get formal training in proper snowboard- ing techniques - Pick the right time and place to learn good weather, uncrowned slope, and soft groomed snow. - Wear protective gear such as helmet, gog- gles and wrist guards.

- Gear should be insulated, waterproofed, and layered clothing. - Protect exposed skin with sunscreen with high sun protection factor. - Snowboard with a buddy trained in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

- Snowboard on patrolled areas, not on un- grounded trails or in wooded areas. - Preprogram your telephone with the ski patrol number. - Be aware of your location at all times to guide rescue efforts if needed - Don't use drugs or alcohol when snow- boarding.

Finding a Snowboard that is best for you The first step is finding the most suitable snowboard for your needs. For example, you need to determine the type of snowboarding you plan to do. Freestyle, free ride and race are all different styles of snowboarding.

Dif- ferent types of boards are used in each style. Make sure you try on different sizes, brands, and models. How should we practice snowboarding in summer?

Snowboarding is a winter sport. It means you need snow and snow hills. So you can not ride snowboards in summer.

Now I will give some advice about how to practice snowboarding in summer as a snowboarder. First is skateboard. It can replace snowboard.

So you can ride a board in road, school, and backyard. Second is waterboard. It can be used on lakes or rivers or water surface.

It is very similar to snowboard but it needs many necessary things. I recom- mend skateboarding more than waterboarding. Or if you have enough money, you can go to different countries famous for ski resorts.

What is Snowboarding University of Bridgeport Summer2, 2007 Page 9 Justin 9s Special Suggestion: Don 9t try extreme snowboarding - -- it 9s very dangerous!! Each region has a special way to make its dishes, and I will start from the northern re- gion to the southern region. In the Caribbean coast, the predominant ingredient is the sea- food.

Some dishes are accompanied with co- conut rice and bananas. In the Antioquia re- gion, most of the dishes are made with beans, rice and ground meat. In these cities, the dishes are rich in potatoes and maniocs. One of the our most valued archeological treasures is the Archeological Park of San Agustin, located in the Huila department,; it has a wide variety of stone figures made by a northern Andean culture that disappeared about in the c.VII A.D. The landscape in this region is beautiful, and its perfect to make a horse riding trip nearby to the Macizo Colom- biano (Colombian Massif) and the Estrecho del Madgalena .

&Coffee...Shakira...Salsa?
