Lawson, Publicity Chair Warner Southern College (863) 638-7609 Polk Grants Alliance Offers Free Grant Writing Class The Polk Grants Alliance in collaboration with Help of Ft. Meade, a United Way Partner, is sponsoring a free workshop open to the public to learn the basics of grant writing on Thursday, April 12 from 9 a.m.

to 12 noon at the Bartow Public Library. Barbara Howell, MA, Research Coordinator for the College of Health and Public Affairs at the University of Central Florida, will present Grant Writing 101. The workshop is being funded through the federal Compassion Capital Fund.

While Grant Writing 101 is targeted to beginners, Ms. Howell will answer questions from grant writers of any experience level. Barbara Howell has been a grant writer and grant administrator for over 20 years.

She has presented at national, state and local conferences. Barbara holds a Masters 9 degree in Education and teaches in the Nonprofit Management Masters Program at UCF. She is a founding member of the Grant Professionals Network of Central Florida, Inc.

and a member of SRA International, a professional society, educating and supporting Research Administrators around the world. The Bartow Public Library is located at ... more. less.

The Polk Grants Alliance is a consortium of grant writers, aspiring grant writers and others involved in making non-profit organizations successful in funding their activities.<br><br> Informative programs are offered every month except December. These meetings provide a forum for group discussion and opportunities to build networks. Membership is $12 per year and has many benefits in addition to the monthly programs.<br><br> The May 10 meeting will offer a program about faith-based grants. -30- 03/29/2007
