The 41 EU is the first Grand Banks model to feature the Cummins MerCruiser Zeus propulsion system,which uses vec- tored thrust to move the boat precisely at slow speed with the touch ofa joystick. Docking has never been easier.While cruising,the pod drives run the boat with surprising responsiveness.During our sea trial,I swear we did a 360-degree turn in about one and a halfboat lengths while running at 20 knots.Zeus 9underwater exhaust makes the 41 EU exceptionally quiet,too.At a 17-knot cruise,I measured the sound level at the lower helm station to be 71 dbA.A wide-open 24 knots only raised the sound level by 2 dbA.

The 15-foot,3-inch beam,along with a large expanse ofglass,give the main deck an open feeling.Visibility from the lower helm station is excellent.There 9s a full galley for- ward and to port,featuring an unusual articulated shelving unit that comes out from a dead corner in the cabinetry to take advantage ofevery inch ofstorage.Sofa seating runs along both sides ofthe salon, and an inlaid teak dining table can be adjusted for size. One ofthe most unique features ofthe boat is the cbasement. dBecause pod drives are placed far aft,there 9s a utility room under the salon instead ofengines.It holds the washer/dryer,a workbench and plenty ofstorage cabinets. The aft deck is covered by the flybridge overhang.The flybridge has sofa seating along three sides and a centerline helm position.A dining table serves the L-shaped seating to starboard. Designed around a queen island berth set on a drawer storage cabinet,the master stateroom includes a cedar-lined hanging locker and shelflockers.The second state- room has twin berths that can be con- verted to a queen with a filler.Both cab- ins share a spacious head with a separate shower stall.
