Using Newspapers for Art Activities: " Choose an interesting letter to the editor and draw an editorial cartoon to illustrate it. " Newspaper artists often draw pictures to enhance a story in the newspaper, especially feature stories. Illustrate an article in the paper, using information in the story for ideas.

" Look through the newspaper and find all the maps. How many were you able to find? Choose an article you have found in the newspaper and draw a map to illustrate that article.

" Spread out the page that has the most stock listings. Find the capital letters A, E, I, O, U and your two initials (i.e., if your name is John Smith, your initials would be JS). Make a small circle around each letter selected (there should be seven).

Connect the dots with a sketch pen or crayon--in any order you like. Look at the picture outline you have drawn. Let your imagination take over, and finish the picture.
