History of Accomplishments The Plano ISD Education Foundation was organized in 1993 to help Plano schools maintain the highest standards of academic excellence. In early years, the Foundation served as a community advisory board to the school district 9s leadership. The Grants to Educators program was created to reach out and support the needs of classroom teachers.

Additional privately-funded programs followed. Today, seventeen years later, the Plano ISD Education Foundation is guided by a board of thirty-two directors, raising more than $1 million annually to help Plano schools remain the best in the nation. Donations to the Plano ISD Education Foundation stay in Plano ISD and address priority programs identified by the school district for which tax dollars are not available.

Since 2000, almost $6 million has been gifted to academic programs and services benefiting Plano ISD that: " Close achievement gaps of at-risk students and ensure all graduates are college-ready; " Recruit, train, retain and recognize the very best teachers; " Assist economically disadvantaged students and families in support of student learning; " Expand communication between schools and community; " Advance curriculum and student performance in STEM programs; " Aid Plano ISD employees with emergency grants for short term, personal crises; ... more. less.

and " Enhance classroom instruction through innovative instructional projects. 2009-2010 Honors and Accomplishments include: In February, 2010 Plano ISD employees donated a total of $121,614 to the Plano ISD Education Foundation through the district 9s annual employee fundraising drive, validating the importance of Foundation-sponsored programs to Plano ISD educators.
