Learn some interesting facts about cold blooded creatures & their habitats; you can even touch them, if you dare!

This will be an experience you won 9t forget. A special treat the whole family will enjoy. So stop by on June 3rd at 4:30 PM to enjoy the show.

Sometimes it 9s nice to talk to someone about a book you love or just read. You and your friends get a chance to cast the book for when it is make into a movie or even rewrite the way the book ends. Teens will have a chance to do all this and more.

This summer the Fortson Public Library Teen Advisory Board (TAB) chose eight books for High School and eight books for Middle School ... more. less.

that teens would enjoy reading. All teens within the age group of the book club (Middle School those going into sixth and ninth are welcome) (High School those going into ninth and those graduating 12th grade are welcome). A list of books will be provided to any teen interested and a list will be made available on the Henry County Library System website and the Henry County Library TAB Blog .<br><br> We will also be posting other goodies on the blog as well! So come join us this summer if you have read one of the books, you want to read one of the books, or you just want to come and have some fun. Warning if you have not read the book there may be some spoilers.<br><br> Parents some of the books may have some content you are not comfortable with your teen reading. If you are not comfortable with your teen reading one of the books on the list please discuss that with your teen. Sometimes you need a little more color in your life.<br><br> Take that white T-shirt or anything else you would like to tie dye and change them into something more interesting to look at, and tie dye at Fortson Public Library June 7th at 10:30 AM. All supplies will be provided except for a garment with which to tie dye . Younger children are welcome at the program but must be under close supervision of someone 16 or older.<br><br> Learn How to Handle Finances Bio-Bus* Georgia State University 9s Bio -Bus comes to the Fortson Public Library June 14 th starting at 2 PM. This teen event - open to 4th graders and older - brings science fun with visual and hands-on experiments with Water. All this brought to you by Georgia State University Bio-Bus.<br><br> Only 15 experimenters are able to enter the Bio-Bus during a session. There will be three time slots open for the Bio-Bus, for more information please contact the Fortson Public Library YA Specialist. Everyday we hear about the changes in our economy and how important it is to go back to the basics of financial management.<br><br> Developing good financial habits while you are young can lead to a prosperous and productive future. That sounds good but how do you learn to do that? Visit with a First National Bank representative at the Fortson Public Library on June 10 th at 4 PM for some financial tips on savings and budgeting.<br><br> Create Your Own Computer Game HAMPTON TEEN String It* Computer Games! Come checkout the program Game Maker and learn how to make your own computer games. There will be computers set up for Teens to make their own games.<br><br> This program is for Middle School and High School. If Teens want to take their game home with them they must bring a flash drive or disk to save it to. Teens will be allowed at least an hour if someone is waiting for the computer but can extend their time if there is no one waiting.<br><br> At Fortson Public Library June 16th from 9:45 to 5:45. Marshmallow Architecture Come by the Fortson Pub- lic Library and see who can build the tallest Marshmallow tower. On June 21st from 4:30-5:30 PM.<br><br> Each person will have a certain number of marshmallows and tooth- picks. Then teens we be given a certain amount of time to build the tallest tower they can. That tower will not only be the tallest but must also be stable.<br><br> Afterwards an ar- chitect from Pope Part- ners Architect will be ex- plaining why some towers fell and others rose to the challenge. String can be fun to play with and that is just what we will be doing on the July 20 th at 2:30 PM. There will be different presenters coming to show you how to knit, cro- chet, weave, and quilt.<br><br> Even if you aren 9t a beginner you are more than welcome to come and share your experience. Unless, your learning about it with Stephen Ramsden. Stephen Ramsden is an air traffic controller as well as a NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador.<br><br> He will be bringing his unique observa- tory quality narrowband Solar telescopes out so that we can all get a look at active solar flares and sunspots on our nearest star. There will be NASA souve- nirs and rest assured that every- one will be able to view the sun safely. Those going into 4th grade and up are welcome and will have a chance to learn all sorts of infor- mation about the sun at the Fort- son Public Library from 10-11:30 AM Wednesday June 23 rd or as long as the line lasts at the scopes.<br><br> Voice your opinions. This event will show you what programs you can use to make and edit. As well as places you can post a pod cast.<br><br> There will also be internet safety tips as well as informa- tion on what you should and should not have on your post. So come to Fortson Public Library June 29th at 4-5PM. Fortson Public Library will be getting messy on July 15th at 4 PM with tissue paper. So come by that day and learn how to make a beautiful rendition of a pond with Water Lilies.<br><br> You will have a chance to make some of Monet 9s art your own. Please sign up if you are interested. Learn how to Dance Civil War style at Fortson Public Library July 8th at 4 PM.<br><br> Some teens may already know our dance instructor, Cassie Barrow 9s, from Nash Farms. She will be showing teens many different dances from around the civil war time period. Then after learning a few dances we will be having are very own An- tebellum Dance.<br><br> If teens like they are more than welcome to come dressed up. Antebellum Dance High Museum of Art* Who wouldn 9t want to work in a bakery?! Fortson Public Library will be giving teens a chance to show off their excellent baked goods decorating skills on July 22nd at 4:30 PM.<br><br> Samantha Hightower, a local baker and owner of Classic Cakes Bakery in Hampton will be helping us out by creating Cupcake orders. It will be the teen 9s jobs to fill them. Good luck teens.<br><br> Oh, by the way, you get to take your cupcakes home and eat them. Can You Bake It? On Thursday, July 22 nd , from 3-5, all children and YA who have partici- pated in the Fortson Library 9s sum- mer reading program are invited to celebrate being cHooked on Books d.<br><br> This celebration will center around a pirate theme and all are invited to come dressed as their favorite pirate or land-loving character. There will be games, crafts and ice-cream for all to enjoy. Parents, please stay with children 12 and under.<br><br> Teens will have a chance to create their own Henna Tattoo but don 9t forget your parent will have to sign a waiver first. Weather permitting, events will be outside; however, if the ship gets drenched, all activities will be mapped in doors. Pirate Party July 13th 3-6 the Henry County Police department will be com- ing out to the Fortson Public Library to teach 15 teens about self-defense.<br><br> You will have a chance to talk about the steps teens should take everyday for self-defense, teens will be shown different moves to use in self- defense, and given a chance to practice on punching bags. Teens will have to sign up at the Fortson Public Library if they would like to attend this pro- gram. If you sign up for the pro- gram and find out later you will not be able to make it, please call the Fortson YA Specialist so another teen will have a chance.<br><br> Self-Defense
