2010 Census You may have already received your 2010 Census form in the mail. New Horizon is a partner with 2010 Census. We, therefore, encourage everyone to participate and be counted.
Teachers may be sending home information with your children. Next Wed., March 31 is a Minimum Day Pick-up is at 12 pm. If you are interested in signing up for extended care, please contact the main office by this Friday.
Parent Conferences 3 Wed., Mar. 31 For students who may be struggling this semester, teachers will be arranging parent conferences from 12 to 4 pm. Also, any new families in the preschool program will be contacted for a conference that day.

Student Appreciation Day Friday, April 2 is Student Appreciation Day. Lower School Lemonade Sale is Tomorrow Thursday, March 25 is a spring fundraiser for the fourth grade. All proceeds go to benefit their end-of-the-year celebration at California Adventure. Middle School MS Quran Competition On March 12, the school held its sixth annual Qur 9an memorization competition.<br><br> We thank our judges, Sumaiah Omar, Tarek Abdullah, and Mouna Nassar, for devoting 4 hours to listening to 42 students. We also thank the Aldeen Foundation for sponsoring the awards. Youth Philanthropy Program This year, some of our students in seventh and eighth grade enjoyed a wonderful opportunity to learn about the value of philanthropy as part of a program offered through the Pasadena Independent Schools Foundation Program (PIFSP). Throughout the year, our students met with students from other independent schools in Pasadena to evaluate various charities and make a decision on how to allocate about $40,000 in funds.<br><br> According to the founders of this program, cThe goal of the program is to give the students a comprehensive and thorough understanding of philanthropy and nonprofit operation, learn skills in critical thinking and decision-making, and develop and build leadership skills and learn the benefits of voluntarism. d Applications for the upcoming year for current sixth and seventh graders (as participants) and eighth graders (as mentors) are due by May 3 . Chandler School, a participating school, will also be hosting a special meeting on Mon., March 29 at 7 pm in Hill Hall for any parents who wish to learn more about the program.<br><br> It 9s Time to Act! For the second semester, the school will once again be working with Upstage, a theater arts company, to work with our students for our Drama program. The seventh and eighth grade elective class meets weekly and will be working on a one-act play.<br><br> Mark your calendars for the MS Drama Night scheduled for Fri., June 4 when we get to experience the culminating performances of our acting elective class.
