Youth Philanthropy Program This year, some of our students in seventh and eighth grade enjoyed a wonderful opportunity to learn about the value of philanthropy as part of a program offered through the Pasadena Independent Schools Foundation Program (PIFSP). Throughout the year, our students met with students from other independent schools in Pasadena to evaluate various charities and make a decision on how to allocate about $40,000 in funds.<br><br> According to the founders of this program, cThe goal of the program is to give the students a comprehensive and thorough understanding of philanthropy and nonprofit operation, learn skills in critical thinking and decision-making, and develop and build leadership skills and learn the benefits of voluntarism. d Applications for the upcoming year for current sixth and seventh graders (as participants) and eighth graders (as mentors) are due by May 3 .
