They are part of Extension Teaching.

The projects exhibited at the Fair by members are the results of their efforts under the supervision of adult volunteers. Youths may enroll on their 9th birthday or upon entering the 4th grade, and may be members until the end of the calendar year in which they become 19. Experimental and special programs may disregard these age limits.

insurance policy covering themselves and their exhibits.<br><br> The Antelope Valley Fair cannot accept liability for loss and/or damage to any exhibit. All 4-H Clubs will be required to work in the 4-H/Grange area before, during and after the fair; for times call Jessie 816-17. The local uniform should be worn by all 4-H exhibitors and by helpers in sections for individual animals or club groups.<br><br> The uniform is white trousers, white dress shirt, regulation hat, tie or scarf, and matching belt and shoes (brown shoes and brown belt etc.). Belts should be worn if the pants have belt loops. To exhibit at the Antelope Valley Fair, a 4-H youth must be 9 years old by January 1st of the current year.<br><br> They must be enrolled in the projects in which they plan to exhibit by January 1st. All exhibits must be marked with the age and year in the project as of January 1st in order to be judged. Exhibits must be ready for display at check-in.<br><br> Guidelines for entering divisions: Beginning 1st & 2nd years, Intermediate - 3rd & 4th years and Advanced - 5th year & above. State Rules and Health Regulations applicable to the Senior Department apply also to the Junior Department. We will not supply paper and tape on entry day.<br><br> 6. Decorated jars will not be accepted. 7.<br><br> Rings and lids must be on jars to be accepted (not plastic wrap or paraffin wax). All canning must be in sealed jars or they will be disqualified. 8.<br><br> Low acid foods must be canned under pressure. 9. TWO JARS PER EXHIBIT (except dried products) will be required for judging, and one may be opened for taste judging.<br><br> 10. Jars which have been opened must be picked up after judging is completed, or they will be disposed of. No exceptions to this rule.<br><br> 11. Dried products should be in jars with lids and seals. Each dried product must be in a separate covered jar, which must be at least half full.<br><br> Fruit leather should be cut into 12 one inch strips and rolled into clear not colored cellophane between layers.
