Champion Wrestling Stats 4.0 Frequently Asked Questions I enter additional stats but they do not appear on any of my reports. It has come to our attention that there is the potential for problems when backing up your wrestler profiles (stats). Normally back-ups are made to a floppy diskette (Drive A), to a network drive, or to another location on your hard drive.

We suggest backing up to a location other than your hard drive for obvious reasons. If your hard drive fails, you have not only lost your program and stats, but back-ups as well. With version 4.0.2, you have the potential to back up to the location where you installed Champion Wrestling Stats 4.0 (usually C:\CWS40).

This will cause problems with existing stats. You will be able to add additional stats, but any reports will only reflect the back up which you made to C:\CWS40. Make sure when you make back-ups, you DO NOT select the location where you installed Champion Wrestling Stats 4.0.

Before starting a back-up, make sure you place a formatted diskette in Drive A. The program will automatically find the floppy in Drive A:. You can also select another location other than C:\CWS40.

The program selects the appropriate location by default. Also -- Do not save or restore data to the reports folder (subdirectory) as well!! We recommend you have at least three diskettes in your back-up rotation. Each time you finish entering stats, backup to a different diskette rotating the diskettes each time you enter stats. How do I correct the problem if it happens??? Please go to My Computer or Explorer and find the location where you installed Champion Wrestling Stats 4.0. Open the appropriate folder or sub-directory (usually C:\CWS40). The following files should be deleted from this folder. Delete these files and ONLY these files. Please be careful!!. Deleting any other files could cause damage to your data. DO NOT delete any files located in the DATA folder or sub-directory. If you accidentally delete any files, you should be able to retrieve them from the Recycle Bin. It will be helpful if you change your VIEW in the folder to LIST. If you wish to place multiple years on one computer and refer to them regularly, please do the following: 1. Make a back-up of existing data before you proceed. 2. Make a copy of the folder (directory) using My Computer or Explorer of the current location where you installed Champion Wrestling Stats 4.0 (probably C:\CWS40). 3. Rename the folder (directory) to the name you wish to have the second copy (Example - CWS1998). 4. Go to the appropriate folder (directory) and click on the CWS40 icon to run Champion Wrestling Stats 4.0 in the new location. 5. IMPORTANT - Click on SETUP, DATA DIRECTORY LOCATIONS and make the appropriate changes as indicated on Page 4 of the user 9s manual to reflect the new location of Champion Wrestling Stats 4.0. 6. How do I account for FORFEITS by my wrestling team? Points For and Points Against can now be totaled for each wrestler on your team. These statistics are totaled for team reports as well. If your team forfeits matches, your Points Against for your team will not be accurate. To account for this, it is suggested that you create a wrestler profile named BYRON FORFEIT (If your school name is Byron). Then, when your team forfeits a specific weight, you can enter that forfeit as a loss against your team and enter the appropriate Points Against. All team reports will now accurately reflect Points Against. Why does my program crash when I print several reports? There are some printers which are known to have a "memory leak" when used in Windows 95 / 98. Several of the HP printers (both laser and ink-jet) experience this problem. The printers use RAM when printing, but do not release it after printing, so that the printers "hog" more and more memory until there is not enough memory left to run the program. The HP Deskjet 1000C has this problem. Try the following to correct the problem: 1) Click Start -- Settings -- Printers 2) Double click on your printer 3) From the menu at the top of the window click Printer -- Properties 4) Click the Details Tab -- then click Port Settings 5) Uncheck the item "Check Port State Before Printing" -- then click OK 6) Back in the Details Tab window, click Spool Settings 7) Be sure "Spool print jobs so program finishes printing faster" is checked 8) Be sure "Start printing after first page is spooled" is checked 9) If the "Spool Data Format" setting is EMF, change it to RAW 10) Click OK to return to properties window, then click Apply 11) Click OK to close the properties window Try printing again. If it doesn't work, go back to Spool Settings as above and check "Print directly to printer". If this still doesn't work, call your printer manufacturer -- or go to their web site and download the latest printer driver.
