Hopi Trust Lands Hopi Trust Lands in Units 4A, 5A, and 5B are open to both state and Hopi hunters under an agreement with the Hopi Tribe.<br><br> A percentage o= tags are set aside =or Hopi Tribal member hunters. Hunt numbers =or these hunts must be obtained =rom the Hopi Tribe Wildli=e and Ecosystems Management Program (re=er to the notes associated with the individual hunts). Le7tover Tags Available at Department O7fces There are now two methods to obtain a le=tover tag.<br><br> Paper applications will be accepted by mail only starting on Monday, Apr. 26 at 8 a.m. (MST).<br><br> However, beginning on Monday, May 3 at 8 a.m. (MST), hunters can also obtain a le=tover tag in person with a completed application =rom any o= the seven Arizona Game and Fish Department o= ces. A list o= o= ce locations is available on this page or at www.azg=d.gov/o= ces.<br><br> Elk Hunters: Over-the-Counter Nonpermit-Tags Available Over-the-counter nonpermit-tags =or elk are available in some hunt areas. Re=er to Commission Order 4 (page 23) =or open areas and season dates. Elk numbers in these hunt areas are very low; there=ore, hunt success is expected to be very low.<br><br> Make sure you obtain permission to hunt on private lands. These hunts will not a==ect your Bonus Points but do count towards your one-elk-per-calendar-year bag limit. You need in your possession a valid hunt or combination hunt and sh license, plus any required hunt permit-tags, nonpermit-tags, or stamps. Neither a Class H Three-Day Non-resi- dent Hunting License nor an Apprentice Hunting License is valid =or big game.<br><br> YOUNG HUNTERS 3 Anyone 14 years o= age or older needs a license to hunt wildli=e in Ari- zona. You need in your possession a valid hunt or combination hunt and sh license, plus any required hunt permit-tags, nonpermit-tags or stamps. A person under 14 may hunt wildli=e other than big game without a license only when accom- panied by a properly licensed person 18 years or older.<br><br> No more than two unlicensed children may accompany any license holder. No one under the age o= 14 may take big game without having completed a Hunter Education Course. No one under age 10 may hunt big game in Arizona.<br><br> To hunt big game, anyone 10 to 13 years o= age must have in their posses- sion a valid hunt or combination hunt and sh license, a valid Hunter Education Course com- pletion card, plus any required permit-tags, nonpermit-tags and stamps. Where to Buy Licenses Arizona hunting licenses can be obtained =rom license dealers throughout the state or =rom any Arizona Game and Fish Department o= ce (see locations on page 2 o= this booklet). I= you are applying =or a big game draw or bo- nus points, you may purchase your general hunt or combination hunt and sh license while you are entering your application =or the draw. The license will not be issued and mailed until re- =unds and hunt permit-tags are mailed per the schedule on page 12.<br><br> I= you wish to use your li- cense be=ore the draw is complete, you must pre-purchase a license be=ore applying. Al- though they are valid =or a big game drawing application, Family Licenses, Super Conserva- tion Licenses, and Child General Hunting and Combination Licenses may not be obtained through the draw ; these licenses must be pur- chased at Department o= ces. Li1etime License Holders I= a li=etime license holder changes residency status =rom Arizona, the licensee must then pur- chase non-resident stamps, tags, and permits.<br><br> A non-resident tag or stamp can accompany your li=etime resident license. I= you are a li=etime li- cense holder who has moved out o= state, the 10 percent non-resident cap does not apply to you. The li=etime license will remain legal =or the taking o= all wildli=e as permitted by law.<br><br> Residency may be re-established a=ter moving back to Arizona and meeting the required time period as de ned below. Residency Requirements A resident is a person who has been a bona de resident o= the state o= Arizona =or six months immediately preceding the date o= application =or a license or a tag, or a member o= the armed =orces who has been stationed in Arizona =or a period o= 30 days immediately preceding the date o= application =or a license or a tag. Arizona residents may purchase a resident li- cense.<br><br> All other individuals must purchase a non-resident license. Three-Day Non-Resident License A Class H, Three-Day Non-resident license, valid =or the taking o= small game, =ur-bearing ani- mals, predatory animals, nongame animals, nongame birds, upland game birds and mi- gratory game birds, except ducks, geese and swans is available at all license dealers. This li- cense is not valid =or hunting big game nor is it valid when applying =or big game hunts through the draw process.<br><br> Apprentice License Resident licensed hunters are able to obtain a =ree Apprentice Hunting License valid =or two days =or use when mentoring a new hunter. This a==ords new hunters the opportunity to ctry be=ore you buy, d under the supervision o= a licensed hunter. An apprentice hunting license is valid =or two days when the apprentice is accompanied in the eld by a mentor.<br><br> An apprentice hunting license is valid =or the taking o= small game, =ur-bearing animals, predatory animals, nongame animals, nongame birds and upland game birds. Any re- quired stamps must be purchased in addition to obtaining an Apprentice License. An appren- tice may be a resident or nonresident and may only be licensed pursuant to this paragraph once per calendar year.<br><br> A mentor must be a bona de resident o= this state who is at least 18 years o= age and must possess a class F, G, J, K, M or N license or a complimentary or li=e- time license. A mentor may apply =or no more than two apprentice hunting licenses per cal- endar year. When applying =or an apprentice license, the mentor must name the person he or she will be taking a eld.<br><br> Consult A.R.S. 17- 333 =or more in=ormation. Lost License or Tag Replacement Lost licenses, hunt permit-tags and nonpermit- tags may be replaced =or a $4 =ee at any Arizona Game and Fish Department license dealer.<br><br> Con- sult R12-4-103 Duplicate Tags and Licenses =or additional in=ormation. Stamps cannot be re- placed, they must be repurchased. Physically Challenged Hunters Those hunters who are physically challenged may quali=y =or a Challenged Hunter Access/Mo- bility Permit (CHAMP).<br><br> Consult R12-4-217 =or a description o= this permit. Non-US CitiCens Wanting to Hunt in AriCona Pursuant to new regulations by the U.S.<br><br> Bu- reau o= Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), non-immigrant aliens who want to temporari- ly import rearms and/or ammunition into the United States =or the allowable purpose o= tak- ing wildli=e will need an ATF import permit and valid hunting license in possession at the time o= entry/import into the United States. Tag Trans1ers Under Arizona Revised Statutes and Arizona Game and Fish Commission Rules there are ways people can trans=er big game tags to children.<br><br> A parent, grandparent or legal guardian holding License In1ormation 2010 Pronghorn Antelope and Elk Hunt Draw In/ormation 5 License In1ormation a big game tag may allow the use o= that tag by their minor child or minor grandchild pursuant to the =ollowing requirements: " The minor child is 10 to 17 years old on the date o= trans=er; " The minor child has a vaild hunting or com - bination license on the date o= trans=er; " A minor child less than 14 years old has satis - =actorily completed a Department-approved hunter education course by the beginning date o= the hunt; " The parent or guardian must accompany the child in the eld or, i= a grandparent allows a minor grandchild to use the grandparent 9s permit or tag, the grandparent, parent or the child 9s guardian must accompany the child in the eld. In either case, the adult must be within 50 yards o= the child when the animal is taken. Once a tag is trans=erred at a Department o= ce, the original permittee may no longer use it.<br><br> A person may also trans=er his or her game tag =or use by a child with a li=e threatening medi- cal condition or a quali=ying permanent physical disability. Consult A.R.S. 17-332 =or more in=or- mation, or visit www.azg=d.gov.<br><br> Should you be unable to use your big game permit, the Department is unable to reimburse you =or your =ees or reinstate your bonus points. However, you may donate your tag to a nonpro t organization that provides hunting opportuni- ties to children with li=e-threatening medical conditions or quali=ying permanent physical disabilities.
