(October 8, 2007) -- Thompson/Center Arms, a Smith & Wesson company, announced today that it has begun shipping the ICON rifle. Engineered as an entirely new bolt- action platform, the ICON incorporates several unique features developed to provide sportsmen with the accuracy, reliability and durability needed in the field and in competition.

First introduced by Thompson/Center at SHOT Show 2007, the ICON is the company 9s first bolt- action centerfire rifle. Developed with input from master gunsmiths, tactical shooters and hunters, the ICON features a solid yet smooth action designed to enhance long-range capabilities. Combining balance with versatility, the ICON incorporates several innovative features including a uniform bedding block, an interchangeable bolt handle with 60-degree lift, an adjustable trigger and a 5R rifling design that enables long-term accuracy and consistency.

The first models of the ICON are chambered in .22-250, .243, .308 and the new .30 TC (Thompson/Center) cartridge.
